PLANTS: Spring is springing

*****UPDATE*******

Due to the unusually cold March and another cold spell on the way next week, it is not fair to our customers or our plants to open until after this has passed. Our first weekend opening will now be our Open Day on Saturday 21st April from 10am until 3pm. Please support your local plant nursery and, if you have any suggestions of things you would like us to stock that would get you into our shop more often, we would love to have your feedback! Please email sales@kehellandtrust.org.uk or call us on (01209) 718975.

We know we could be in for another cold snap, but that hasn’t stopped preparations for the up and coming nursery season and we hope you will come and visit us when we start to open weekends and Bank Holidays from Saturday 21st April 10am until 3pm.

Baskets are coming in already for re-filling. This is a service we have offered for many years now and bring lots of experience along with a passion for making sure things look perfect ready for hanging straight out into your garden spaces at the end of May/ Beginning of June. Prices start at just £14.50. We can quote to refill any container you provide, or design new baskets to your specifications. Please call (01209) 718975 for more information or to place an order.

We are also proud to have made the decision to go peat-free this year with support and advice from BHGS in Hayle and supplies from Melcourt. It feels good to be taking steps to be more environmentally friendly, alongside our continued commitment to choosing pollinator-friendly flowers, both in our seasonal bedding section and across our veg and herb sections too. The next step is to tackle plastics! We plan to package less and less of our produce in plastics and, without throwing away stock we already have, we will start to replace with more natural and biodegradable alternatives.

Team Dawn, along with some of our internship students, recently enjoyed a guided visit to the National Dahlia Collection near Penzance. Louise and the team showed us around the collection and transferred propagating skills to our staff and trainees. Huge gratitude to everyone for a wonderful morning. We look forward to visiting again when the dahlias are in full bloom.
