Our philosophy at Kehelland is to promote independent living in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our kitchen provides a perfect opportunity for our trainees to gain valuable life skills in hygiene awareness, food safety, meal planning and preparation and to gain an understanding of the nutritional value of what we cook and eat. Trainees are encouraged to identify the nutrients in individual fruits and vegetables, applying health awareness to meal times.
Using our own produce as much as possible, our trainees learn the value of locally grown produce, how and when to harvest different fruits and vegetables as well as how to weigh, measure and prepare harvests for meals.
