Meet the team
Our education team is made up of dedicated, passionate individuals who are all committed to providing the highest level of teaching and learning. We meet regularly as a team, and strive for continuous development and training ensuring we are consistently following good practice guidelines and maximizing our effectiveness for our learners. Each learning group is made up of a tutor, a Senior ALS and multiple ALS (Additional Learning Support).
Our staff members all provide classroom, on-site and off-site support for our learners, with a focus on encouraging the learners’ independent thought and confidence in their own actions. We’re dedicated to not ‘spoon-feeding’ our learners with answers; instead, we use open questions and phrases to guide the learner to finding the answer on their own.
The tutors are fabulous people that lead and teach each group and are in charge of coming up with practical activities and lessons for the class to engage and learn about. These guys hold a wealth of experience, each in different backgrounds and bring different styles and methods to our education programs.
Jon – Achieve Tutor
Jon’s been the Achieve tutor for several years now, and has a massive amount of experience in working with people with additional needs. Fun fact about Jon – his legs aren’t actually as short as they are in the photo, they are substantially longer! Jon helps to provide a friendly, low-pressure way for students to begin their first year at Kehelland College!
Paul – Advance Tutor
Paul was working at Kehelland as Additional Learning Support, but then did so many amazing things that when a position came up for another tutor, we knew he would be incredible at it, and we were right. Paul helps to upskill other colleagues in how to use some of the tools we utilise to make our workbooks as amazing as they are!
Lucy – Succeed Tutor
Lucy has worked in education for over 25 years, and came to us in September from Penryn College, so despite having been teaching for so long, she is still the new girl. Lucy teaches the third year group, called “Succeed”, and makes sure that our learners do exactly that!
