Our team is made up of dedicated, passionate individuals who are all committed to providing the highest level of teaching and learning. We meet regularly as a team, and strive for continuous development and training—ensuring we are consistently following good practice guidelines and maximising our effectiveness for our learners.
Our tutors hold a wealth of experience, each in different backgrounds and bring different styles and methods to our education programs here. Jon and Adam are our Program of Study tutors; Jon is teaching our new learners on the ‘Achieve’ program, while Adam is taking our current learners onto ‘Advance and Succeed’, our second and third year programs at Kehelland.
Dan is a freelance tutor who is currently delivering an Independent Living Skills course to some of our learners aged 19 and over – this includes basic health and safety, horticulture and cooking skills.
Michelle will be our Education Coordinator and will cover for the other tutors across all programs, integrating soft skills, English and Maths into their timetables to ensure practical application of the subjects.
Learning Support Staff
Our current team of 15 are led by senior additional learning support staff Paul, Debbie & Aaron. All additional support staff work closely with their learner(s) to decide how best to frame information according to their support needs. The whole team have informal daily catch ups and monthly meetings to adapt these methods as necessary.
Our learning support staff all provide both classroom and on-site support for our learners, with a focus on encouraging the learners’ independent thought and confidence in their own actions. We’re dedicated to not ‘spoon-feeding’ our learners with answers; instead, we use open questions and phrases to guide the learner to finding the answer on their own.
