Thanks so much to everyone who came to our Spring Celebration. It was a really successful day, although sadly we didn’t take any photos as we were all rushing about being busy!
The rain stopped just in time for the maypole to go up. There was lots of dancing and music and a lovely well-attended orchard tour which took our visitors through all our orchards; from the 1985 ‘supermarket’ orchard, through our Cornish Orchard with it’s 70 different Cornish Varieties, our espalier trees, cider triangle and then a visit to our bare-root apple tree project where 400 trees are all starting to show signs of life after having been grafted just a couple of months ago. It was a really lovely experience to see the fruits of everyone’s labours and new life showing so strongly across the site.
Many people made headdresses using our own willow and hedgerow flowers.
We had a tasty array of cakes, cream teas and prosecco served from the wonderful Rodda’s Strawberry Trailer. This trailer has been one of the great bonuses of being Rodda’s Charity of the Year 2022/23 and we are so grateful to Rodda’s for all the support and visibility they have given us throughout the year.
Kehelland Village School’s PTSCA prepared and served the most delicious hot food from our kitchen. The whole place smelled of warm and comforting spices from the atal vegan curry and jerk chicken, rice & peas.
Huge gratitude too all the musicians: Redruth Festival Band, Tatters Morris & Whippletree Ceilidh Band who all gave their time for free and were the life and soul of the event. Thank you.
We hope that we can do it all again next year.
It’s time to get your dancing shoes on again and support the PTSCA at Kehelland Village School as well as Kehelland Trust.
We will be celebrating all things spring and especially the apple blossom and the spirit of spring with a Ceilidh and Maypole dance with Whippletree Ceilidh band, Redruth Festival Band and Tatters Morris. There will be Maypole dancing workshops as well as a performance from the students at Kehelland Village School.
We will be serving tea, coffee, cakes, cream teas and prosecco. Our shop and sales areas will be open and we’ll be running orchard tours. Kehelland Village School PTSCA will be running activities and helping prepare and serve food.
Hot Food will be served in our canteen between 4.30 and 6.30 and the Ceilidh will start at 5pm.
Tickets are available via Eventbrite using this link below:
We hope to see you there!
